Founding AI Engineer Residency

 

Location: Remote (Chicago, IL preferred)

Compensation: Primarily equity | Part-time or full-time

🧠 What You’ll Do

This is a Founding Engineer Residency – a paid, time-boxed trial role with a clear path to becoming our Founding Technical Lead and/or Founding CTO.

Core Responsibilities

✅ AI Engineering – Design and implement LLM- and LEM-style agents for structured reasoning

✅ Software Development – Architect and build scalable, modular systems (API-first, containerized preferred)

✅ Data Science – Develop inference and recommendation algorithms tied to healthcare KPIs

✅ Data Engineering – Design pipelines that clean, structure, and maintain sensitive operational datasets

What You’ll Accomplish

  • 🧪 MVP Build – Develop a working prototype used by early hospital partners
  • 🏗️ Solution Architecture – Design a modular and secure architecture across frontend, backend, and data systems
  • 🗺️ Roadmap Management – Define and iterate the technical roadmap using feedback from customer journey reviews
  • 💰 Technical Investment Forecast – Build a cost-conscious plan for scaling infrastructure, services, and team

🚀 Your Trajectory

  • Residency (Trial Period): Part-time or full-time contributor focused on MVP & architecture
  • Founding Technical Lead: Lead technical execution, hiring, and scaling
  • Cofounding CTO: Formal leadership, equity vesting, and strategic ownership

🧰 Your Toolkit (examples, not strict requirements)

  • Causal inference tools: DoWhy, EconML, Pyro
  • LLM frameworks and vector DBs: LangChain, LlamaIndex, Weaviate
  • Dev stack: Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Docker, GitHub
  • Deployment: Azure preferred; open to AWS/GCP
  • Data wrangling: Pandas, NetworkX, SimPy
  • Healthcare experience or strong curiosity about hospital operations
