We have been reposting a lot of articles that highlight the benefits and use cases of incorporating AI and technology, with some of our thoughts in captions. If nothing else, you can surmise that we are fans.
The idea is not to position technology as the silver bullet, but more to build some trust in the products that are truly impactful in improving outcomes and hospital operations.
6 months ago, or so, I was speaking with a CIO (who was also a practicing physician) who thought AI is "just a fad"; he continued, “Sometimes I’m charting late at night and by exercising critical thinking, I am able to draw conclusions about an encounter that can drastically impact their treatment, diagnosis, and care journey”. I was facilitating a panel, so I had to keep my cool, but I was so worked up internally. Let’s dissect that -
What technology allows is a seamless flow of information, but also to connect dots so providers don’t have to do it manually. This can be in the clinical operations of the facility, or during the point of care. The goal is not to replace humans with robots, it’s to work with the robots. When you’re operating a self-driving vehicle, they still suggest keeping your hands on the wheel.
So, yes...VHS is a fan of technology and AI. However, it's not without acknowledging and closely scrutinizing the products. Many products are out there claiming "AI" but they're nothing more than some advanced analytics. The difference is the ability to learn and grow.
VHS helps our partners find the appropriate solution to their use case, one that is rooted in outcomes, prioritizes data security, and has a tangible ROI attached.
